UPCOMING EVENT!
The Seagull is a tale of the harshest truths of life, and how certain key decisions shape one’s life. It’s portrayed in a lens of, as Chekov says, “a great deal of conversation about literature, little actions, tons of love.” The story, which has no single main character, revolves around 4 protagonists – the struggling writer Constantine; his veteran actress and diva mother Irina; her lover, famous writer Boris Trigorin; and a young actress Nina, who Constantine is in love with. Everyone gathers on the estate of Constantine’s uncle, Sorin, to watch a play put up by Constantine in which Nina is acting. This is the event that changes every character’s life.
Themes of unrequited love, fame vs pursuit of art, and Artistic struggles are central to the play, and are topics still relevant to this day, about 130 years after it was first written.
The play has been adapted to a contemporary setting, by Arena’s own Syed Saad.
We will be going into the 9th show of our adaptation of the Seagull.
